How to Program Chevy Garage Door Opener

HomeLink® remote technology allows you to not only open your garage door with just a click, but also close your gates or activate your home security system without hopping out of the cabin. Programming HomeLink® for the First Time

When you take home your new Chevy to Mays Landing for the first time, you’ll need to set up the HomeLink® system before you can take advantage of all the great features. Here’s what you need to do:

• Start your car.
• Look for the HomeLink® unit with three buttons.
• Press and hold the first and third buttons until the cabin lights flash.
• Pick one HomeLink® button to assign your garage door opener function.
• Press and hold your chosen button, while pressing the open/close button on your garage door opener at the same time.
• Your HomeLink® indicator light will begin to flash rapidly.
• Once your indicator light goes from flashing to solid, you’re done!

If your HomeLink® light just continues to flash, you may have a garage door opener with a “rolling code system” instead. This means you’ll follow a slightly different set of directions.

Programming HomeLink® with a Rolling Code System

A rolling code system means your garage door opener generates a new code every time you return from Woodbine. Though this is a fantastic type of security technology, you’ll need to take a slightly different approach when programming your system. Here are the steps:

• Look for the “Learn Code” button on your garage door opener.
• Press and hold the “Learn Code” button until a red LED light blinks.
• You’ll have 30 seconds to complete the programming from this point on.
• While the light is still blinking, get in your vehicle.
• Press the pre-programmed HomeLink® button four times.
• When the garage door opens, you’ll know that your programming was successful.
